Testing Jigs

Spectra-Solaris Laboratory has a large experience on designing and manufacturing complex and affordable contacting jigs for solar cell complex and repetitive testing. solar cell jig design

Using contacting jigs has significant advantages for thin film or organic solar cells testing:

  • All cells are irradiated simultaneously
  • Precise and repetitive contacting of all cells in the same time
  • No damage for the cell
  • Test interface allows automated switching of the cells in sequence or operator selected 
  • The user friendly computer software allows fast selection of devices to test
  • The jig can be provided with suitable windows to change the spectral response of the cells
  • Very simple spring probes replacement
  • Signal conditioning electronics is normally included
  • USB interface is available for PC controlled switching

 

Contacting Assemblies and Motorized X-Y Stages

We make advanced contacting assemblies for large solar cells as well:

  • Provided with 2 or 3 contacting bars, each bar with rows of spring probes  for current and one voltage probe (4-point contacting technique) with precise and gentle pneumatic movement avoiding the cell breaking or scratching
  • Very simple spring probes replacement
  • The base stage is gold plated and is provided with independent current and voltage contacts
  • The base stage has a Platinum RTD temperature detector embedded in for precise temperature measurement
  • Manual operation or fully automated (PLC or PC controlled, software included)
  • PLC or PC controller, fully programmed is available on request
  • On demand the base stage could be temperature controlled with a dedicated attached thermostat (Peltier or water based)
  • On special request the contacting assembly a special IO interface can be included for insertion in existing solar cell testing equipment (for cell sorting, for example).
  • We custom design and manufacture motorized (with stepping motors) X-Y stages for selective contacting or light beam movement (custom beam head can be included) for very large thin film solar cells or even modules. The stage is PC or PLC driven (interface and software is available)

Vacuum Deposition Masks

Spectra-Solaris Laboratory is able to design and manufacture laser machined complex vacuum deposition masks from a variety of materials.

Reference Solar Cells

We make affordable Reference Solar Cells calibrated by certified laboratories. Our reference cells are designed and manufactured as per IEC 60904-2 (edition 2.0 from 2007).

The reference cells can be provided with modified spectral response for improved spectral match using suitable filter windows. The cells have embedded Platinum RTDs for temperature corrections.
